Microsoft Anti-Virus Push: Good For Us, Bad For AV Vendors

If M$ just makes the AntiVirus bundle available for download free of charge, problem solved.

If they think they are going to charge users to buy their AV software to help secure an already flawed OS security they created, that's BS

If their antivirus is as poor as their firewall,I 'll stay with my beloved Avast Pro......even if theirs comes for free in Servicepack 99 or whatever..

I don't think Microsoft will tightly integrate such a standalone application like Antivirus with Windows. However if they still make their Antivirus available for cheaper prices, I still don't see any problem. I just hate all this lawsuits about harming competition. If Microsoft has the capability/strengths to make it available cheaper then why NOT?

Nobody is stopping other AV companies to do so. Afterall, we customers will still choose what's best not always the cheapest. You don't need to stop Microsoft in the market and make it artificial. According to our demand, let us influence the market naturally.

I feel it's a conflict of interest if M$ SELLS an anti-virus program to protect us from what they as the maker of the OS have complete control of.
