MICROSOFT IS scratching its head as to why no-one its taking up its mega-patch SP2 for Windows XP.
Vole had expected more than 100 million people to download the patch by now but figures indicate that only 20 million have bothered to do so.
The main reason is a marked reluctance for corporate IT departments to upgrade. IT departments have decided to treat SP2 as if they were rolling out a full upgrade rather than a patch and are still sitting down and doing loads and loads of testing.
Universities have also been a tad slow. This is mostly because Vole released SP2 just as hordes of student freshpersons invaded their campus networks.
A spokesVole was optimistic that the company might hit its 100 million figure by the end of October.
