Can someone please explain to me the differences between 'Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition' and 'Norton Antivirus 2004'. I have installed and tried both. 'Norton Antivirus' seems to slow down the computer immensely, while 'Symantec Antivrus Corporate Edition' seems to have no effect on the system. Also, when I open documents or spreadsheets in Word and Excel they seem to take much longer to open as it says that 'Norton Antivirus' is scanning the files before opening. But with 'Symnatec Antivirus Corporate Edition' the files take no extra time to open and also it does not say that the files are being scanned. In other words it seems like 'Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition' does nothing at all whereas 'Norton Antivirus' scans and watches everything on the computer which also leads to a major system slow down. Now what I really don't understand is, if 'Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition' provides as good protection as 'Norton Antivirus' without slowing down the system, then why does Symantec/Norton not use the technology of 'Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition' in 'Norton Antivirus Home Edition'.

What? And lose the chance to sell two products as opposed to only one?!!

Seriously though, Symantec was meant for large businesses (corporations--hence the name) with more restrictions to network traffic and the emphasis on managing computers easier by their IT departments. Norton was meant for the average home consumer.

And you can change the settings if you don't want to have NAV scanning your documments

But you cannot do vice versa. Meaning you cannot have the documents scanned automatically in Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition.
