HARD DRIVE MAKER Maxtor said it has started shippings it Serial ATA Ultra 16 hard drive kits which offer 16MB buffers.
The Ultra16 kits are intended for people wanting to upgrade their systems with capacities of drives up to 300GB.

The kits include a S-ATA cable, mounting screws, and step by step instructions, along with its Max Blast installation software intended to migrate files from old hard drives to new.

The firm claims the drives offer a 150MB/second interface speed and S-ATA II features such as native command queuing.

Prices for 250GB kits and 300GB S-ATA kits are $240 and $280 respectively, and Maxtor said it will offer parallel ATA Ultra 16 kits in the fourth quarter.
