Well, It is shared RAM!
Could it be the Video card?

((It is a shot in the Dark))

I have seen this before, stripping this down to the bare components will solve this. In addition, try a different video card, and if that does not work, I recommend that you update the firmware / bios settings on the motherboard, disable any onboard video cards or video shadowing. I had this problem a few years ago with a matrox card. If you still have issues, PM me and I will advise further if I can.

Thanks For the Tip Fox, unfortunately the system doesn't even get that far....

The error comes up before the system has had a chance to check the hardware.....So no CD-ROm's/Floppys/hard disks are enabled yet.....

I will strip it down tomorrow, with just the mobo/cpu/memory/graphics and see what I get.....

@Grzyb I know you will but just in case don't forget to remove the battery for awhile first.

Thanks

Just an Update....

Looks like the fault was a SP2 upgrade gone pearshaped.....

My friend's wife, ever so helpful as she is....Noticed that an Update was advised in the System Tray....She duly elected to perform the Update....Thought that it was taking too long to complete and switched the PC off...

Result unbootable PC

I managed to fit the Hard Drive on my PC and copy over all the photos/docs etc and then reformated.....

They are now pround owners of an Updated SP2 Beast!!!!!

And she is in the Doghouse!!!!!

An overclocked rig among other things will gpf u to death.
(which i've totally been guilty of in da past) until you lower it back down or increase voltage.
Super winPe ubcd 2004 std prolly would have been perfect for that scenerio.
Glad you got it done for them!

Thanks for the update:
In my opinion this might be worth being read by ALL....as some others may be guilty of this happening to them. I have told my wife not to do SP2 update yet as she uses several apps that just may not work.

Thanks
