MICROSOFT HAS announced that it will begin shipping the Windows XP Media Center edition to the system builder channel.
The Media Center edition of Windows XP was only available to large OEMs making Media Center PCs, the past, causing an outcry in the channel.
These PCs have in the past been tightly controlled through tier one, and a very limited number of Microsoft solution providers.
One may wonder whether since Microsoft is releasing this to the channel, if hardware OEMs will be more forthcoming with driver updates and product support for this flavour of the operating system.
Although no exact date has been announced yet, Micosoft said that you can expect it this year.
