NOW THAT BOTH Intel and AMD roadmaps are suffering massive attacks of 64-bitness, we wonder about the future of 32-bit support from Microsoft.
That's because the rumour mill is whirring that at VoleInside there may well be a lackness of 32-bitness of Longhorn Server.
And when that happens, there may also be a lackness of 32-bitness server side versions of SQL Server, Exchange, and Sharepoint too.
This would have many advantages, the rumour mill reckons.
One of which would be an enormous cut in support and testing costs.
Thank god for 64-bitness, we suspect people inside Microsoft Central are muttering.
Can it be long before Via brings out a 64-bit version of its microprocessors? It told us at Computex two years ago that this wasn't beyond the realms of possibility. Just a thought, again.
