Can the DO version of XP be converted to a PRO OEM version without formating?

I don't think there is an OEM version of pro, just Retail,Corp, and MSDN.

i haven't tried this, but it should work ....

copy your DO cd to your hard drive, then open your setupp.ini file in the i386 directory ... it should look something like

ExtraData=707A667567736F696F697911AE7E05
Pid=55034000

change the last 3 digits of the Pid key to "OEM" ie from Pid=55034000 to Pid=55034OEM.

Then repair/reinstall Windows from the harddrive files ... or copy them onto a new cd, for that matter .... you'll need an OEM cd key to complete this though.

There are OEM WinXP Pro's out there. check _http://web6.scan.co.uk/Products/Info.asp?WPID=13086 for an OEM WinXP Pro.

You have to stick a syicker on your computer with the key to show its legal, and it MUST be bought with any hardware.

Just for reference.
