Case Fan cooling

Hello Everyone, I have a question about airflow in my case. I have three fans sucking in at the front of the case and 3 blowing out the back of the case...I just installed to more fans on the side of the case and am wondering should these blow in onto the motherboard or suck warm air off the motherboard...They are directly in front of my video card (Geforce3, overclocked)...Thanks in advance. I assume you also have a fan for the Processor. With that many fan motors running it could be a case of drawing quite a current load which simply makes more heat. Generally heat comes from Motors that are running except for the Main&Video Processors. I expect both of the Processors have a fan to disperse the heat from the immediate area.

How many hard drives are you running? Some servers have drive Arrays numbering 5-7 or more drives in the case. In a machine like that 4 or more fans is a good idea. Having several fans is mostly for reliability incase one or two fail for some reason.

you'd want the side fans to blow straight in. this also help cools the memory on you geforce. technically, a blowhole on the top is better because hot air rises. a problem i noticed with having lots of fans on the back is that it straight away sucks the cool air that comes from the side without revolving around the cpu first.

The flow's the thing. You've got great fan power pulling out the hot air. Place a fan that will blow, bring air in from the outside...in over cpu area if possible. It can be on top, as mentioned, if you customize your case a little. Some of the OC websites have great how to's with pictures.

I just installed 2 more fans 1 front and 1 at the back..
since I added a 60G HD and upgrade my Tbird to 1.4G and O/C
to 1.599G

idle at 36C
load max at 43C after playing Max payne for 6 hours!
not me .. my son

what is yours!
too many fans are not necessary a good thing!
make sure hot spots are created in your box!

Have you tried switch off 1 or 2 fans and then
open both side panels and see whether temperature drop etc...

What about the noise ?

Current temperatures at idle are sytem temp: 35-38, CPU: 41-43,
Temps at gaming: sytem: 40-43, CPU: 49-51. These temps are at default CPU speed of 2g and video card just slightly overclocked...What is this I hear about positve and negative case blowing (more air in that out or less air in than out)...thanks everyone so far on tips!!!mayostudent

As long as you have the good temp, you have nothing to worry about. More air flow can mean more noisy. Make sure you have a good powersupply with quiet fans.

As long as you don't modify your case too much it should be okay. I have heard that keeping the case on and not opening too many holes is probably the best. By keeping the case close it allows for correct expulsion of hot air, hence the size of the fan also plays a major role in this. Likewise with the suction of cold air from the outside.
