Hello All!
This is my 1st post as a new user, so I hope I can get to know you guys soon.
I'm having a problem with the IRC link in the NAVIGATION menu to the left of the homepage. I can't seem to get the page to display, always says page can't be displayed. Any ideas please? is the service down?
Kind Regards,
MonkeyMagic

it's a direct link for mIRC, you need to have mIRC to make it work. Download mIRC, and then click on it.

Go to Start > Run
Paste
irc://irc.holics.net/holics
Press ENTER.
If it opens up with mIRC Then
You are done
Else
Something wrong at your end or at our end
End If

Unable to open this Internet Shortcut. The protocol "irc" does not have a registered program.
Wasn't the link a CGI interface to IRC..?? Isn't that provided anymore? My Internet connection here doesn't allow me to access IRC via mIRC as the attempted connection gets blocked. Do u know of any other free CGI IRC access?
Kind Regards,
The Magic Monkey

We had some problems with the CGI link so it's removed now. There is still a working version at http://www.holics.net/cgi-bin/irc.cgi if you have problems accessing IRC normally.

I still can't get access to that site due to our proxy server blocking almost everything, however, do u know of any other free CGI IRC sites that have access to more servers like dalnet and efnet? I tried searching on google with not much luck.

I think you are unlikely to find any public CGI-IRC gateways, as they would often be abused by people trying to evade bans, etc, and hence banned from major IRC networks.
Your best bet would be to find some free webspace which supports Perl/CGI scripts, ( www.polarhome.com might be a good choice), and upload the script yourself. It can be downloaded fromhttp://cgiirc.sourceforge.net

Hola,
I have been using this linkhttp://www.galgenberg.net/cgi-bin/cgiirc/irc.cgi?adv=1 . It allows you to enter different servers. I did try one or two servers on DALnet and got timed out. It might be because of my connection here at work. Try it and see what happens...
Cheers and good luck
J...
