How to get a free .tk domain
.tk domains are assigned by the territory of Tokelau (three atolls near New
Zealand). They decided that they would give away domains for free in order
to promote Tokelau and attract sponsors for humanitarian projects.
You can register up to three domains for free, provided that these aren't
inactive, that is, there must be at least 25 visitors within a period of 90 days.
You can even have e-mail addresses @yourdomain.tk .
Please note that you won't actually have webspace or space for your mails,
your visitors and mails will merely be forwarded to your real address. This is
a very valuable service particularly for those using free webspace providers
(e. g. Geocities) and therefore have a very long address, which is difficult to
remember.
For example :
http://www.hiphop.tk would be easier to remember than
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconVally/Park/2347
(this example is completely random, I don't even know whether the site exists)
How to register for a free .tk domain? Very easy.
1. Go to
www.dot.tk
2. Fill in your desired name in the box that says "your-domain-here" (this would be
'hiphop' in our example). Click on "OK".
3. If your name has been taken, select a different name from the list or enter another
name in the box that says "your-domain-here" (now it's on the right side of the screen).
4. Once you've found a name that is free, let yourself be guided through the simple
3-step registration
