I have a friend who wants to set up a small network for his real estate appraiser business. Every PC has Win XP and at least a P4 3.0 with 1 gig of ram and 80 gig 72000 rpm hard drive. When i set up the software on all the PCs and map the software drive, the program runs slow as hell and freezes often. I showed him how to remote desktop and he loves remotely connecting to the main server and bypassing any of the netwrok i created. The only problem is this holds someone else from using the pc downstairs. I was wondering if a VPN can be set up to get the speed of the remote desktop without rendering the pc unuseable wheile he is connected.
