Have you tried to use another player...??

I have dvds (store bought) that will play on PowerDVD but not on Windvd and visa versa as well...

btw, Sometimes it's impossible to play DVDs bought in Europe or Asia on an American DVD player or vice versa, due to incompatible copy protection schemes. The issues are endless. Zoom player seems to play what other players cannot...

Maybe try some Region free voodoo

Make certain you've got all the latest updates from Windows Update page. I've had experiences like this and get impatient and never finish fixing. Right now I've got one desktop that works best with WM9. I've got a second one on the LAN that has trouble with WM9. Wierd. I'm sure it has to do with the codecs, but I feel like a chick in a wolf's den when it comes to codecs.

I also have WinDVD and ATI's players installed. Often ATI's players work when others don't. Got ATI AIW cards in both machines.

i had a problem like this before. i couldn't play certain dvd9, not sure whatz exactly the problem, some say it has something to do with region, i dont know, some say the player, dont exactly know what the probs. then after doing some research on the internet and by downloading several software... had lost count how many software i 've tried. then suddenly..have you heard of Nero...im sure those who have cd/dvd writer is used to it. but i've read of those who has trouble like this, they burn the dvd on a different format to the computer or to a different dvd. well i've started thinking what the heck lot of work to do....all i want is just to watch a dvd...then resuming my research after that ...doing this and that.....and wallllaaaaaa......have u heard of nero showtime.....just play your dvd9 that u cant play before by using nero showtime....and im pretty sure you'll be thanking to me after this...no pls u dont have to.
the problem i had before is if you display the properties of the dvd9 movies it shows 4.3gb or 7gb or something...but when you open the dvd or explore it ....all the files are in 0kb....welll doesnt make sense at all. i thought the dvd's is a flaww....then again ....when watching by using my aiwa dvd player...emm it really can....
Now....what i am trying to tell you ...is ....probably ooor must be because of a software....then why not trying nero showtime ......try it...and if you have better software or explanation do let me know...ok...

em the dvd shrink...but u have to decrypt it first...and guess what, it has no menu....it lack some features....i advise you to try nero showtime...it works the same as power dvd ...or windvd or..any dvd player...on pc...if you are at the nero's website ....download nero 6 package 2 that has a nero showtime inside....that's all....it is about 19mb .. those who are using dsl, no problem....to those who are using dial up ...well it takes time a bit...but it's well worth waiting.
