Just a little note about my own experience using WMV9. I was doing a little video editing and WMV9 got the clip down to 2MB whereas DivX 5.x got it to 4.1 MB and the WMV9 file looked better than the DivX! I was thoroughly impressed.

Not all DVD players support WMA files.

I know the APEX AD-1225 reads WMA files and it's a $35.00 DVD player.
