I usually give advice by citing examples. I'm a good example. I always got depressed when I was without a girlfriend. In fact after high school I broke up with my steady and got so depressed I joined the Army. I grew up there, but never got over being depressed when I didn't have a girl. after a lot of false starts, chance brought me a Christmas card from a girl I'd met by chance 3 years before and simply talked with and exchanged addresses. I met her again on a lark and married her, more years ago than I care to admit. No accounting for chance and weird events.
