You might be able to use the ISO, you can certainly use .img or .bin for boot images. WinIso or others can convert. Sometimes you can just change the filename.
Check it out by creating an ISO of the whole thing and grab the image to the CD in drive Virtual PC while it is booting to test it.
WinImage uses IMA, or IMZ by default, which is compressed, and should be avoided. Microsoft uses .img - who knows why. I think some of the image formats are compatible but use different extensions.
