Nero Burning Rom
This is not really a tweak but it does make using Nero under XP quite different and in some cases, better. If you use Nero 5.5.8.2 give this a try. It is better to use in some ways.
Here's a bit of interesting info: Nero is apparently also Nero Express or the vice versa. If you have the newest version of Nero (5.5.8.2) all you have to do is change the target path on the shortcut from: "C:Program FilesaheadNero Nero.exe" to "C:Program FilesaheadNeroNero.exe" /w and bingo instant enhanced GUI of Nero Express.
Outlook 2002: Minimize to System Tray
Like most applications Outlook 2002 (from Office XP) will normally minimize to the taskbar. This tweak changes the default behaviour so that it will minimize to the system tray (next to the clock) instead.
1.Open your registry (Click on Start->Run and type regedit and press OK) and find the key below. You may need to create the key if it does not already exist.
2.Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value, called 'MinToTray' and edit the value according to the settings below.
3.Exit your registry, you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect.
Settings
Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice10.0Outloo kPreferences]
Value Name: MinToTray
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (1 = System Tray, 0 = Taskbar)
Note: Backup your registry before you try this tweak or any other tweak that makes use of the registry. Changing the values in the registry might cause serious problems.
No more ICQ banners
To remove those annoying, flashing banners at the bottom of ICQ.
Simply open the ICQ folder with windows explorer. C:Program FilesICQ
Delete the file "ICQHttp.dll"
Do not delete "ICQHttp .dll" (note the space)
Re-start ICQ and --**no banners**-- ;-)
Made mIRC dcc send work
If you use mIRC and windows xp firewall, you have noticed that dcc send won't work. Here is how to get it working without disabling the entire firewall :
1. First you must limit the range of port that mirc use in the Dcc, Option menu. In DCC ports , set both at 1024.
2. After, go into control panel & network connections
2. Right click on your connection and select 'properties'
3. Left click the advanced tab
4. Left click the settings button
5. Under services, left click the add button
6. For description type "DCC", for Name of IP put the name that identifies your system with your ISP OR your IP if it is static.
7. Both external and internal ports are 1024 by default and TCP.
8. Click OK and restart
