The maximum length of any path for NTFS is 128 chars. This includes the filename.
"c:\this is a very\long path which has more than\one hundred and twenty-eight\characters in its name\may have problems being accepted\by windows\when accessing\files.txt".
Its not the actual depth of the path that matters, but the total length used to address it.
On FAT file systems I believe the maximum depth is 8 directories.
