Hi

I am using the Hauppauge WINTV PREMIO PCI Card and I have been using it with excellent results, with Intel P3 and P4 motherboards (D845HV) without onboard graphics, and my ATI Radeon 64MB AGP card and also my NVIDIA TNT2 M64 32MB card.

The quality of the picture (and sound), has always been excellent but just recently, I upgraded my motherboard to the Elite L7VTA (VIA chipset) and AMD Athlon XP2000+ processor with 256 DDR RAM and (without onboard graphics) was very pleased with the results and performance of the new board, processor and RAM and I am still using my ATI Radeon 64MB card. I was able to install WinXP Home in 12 minutes (from when the "setup will complete in 39 minutes" screen appears. I thought this was excellent because my P4 with 768MB RAM took around the full 39 minutes (or more) to install.

I then installed the WinTV card with the latest WinXP drivers and 'apps' from the Hauppauge website and that's when I became unhappy. The picture quality was terrible and the sound was not as clear as it should be. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the card but nothing changed so I have reluctantly removed the card from my computer.

I wonder if Hauppauge is aware that there may be an issue with certain hardware products and their cards and if so, are there any updates for my WINTV card or my motherboard, that will give me back the excellent quality and sound that I have come to expect from Hauppauge TV/Radio cards?

I would appreciate any help from users who have the same or similar problems when using the Elite L7VTA mb with a WinTV PCI card.

STOP PRESS: Are there any AMD utilities like the Intel Frequency ID utility that I can use to check out my AMD Athlon XP2000+ processor and if so, where can I download them from?

Regards

I had something like it happen. The system said my card was running at XXX it wasn't. What I did was reset everything to different settings. Then set them to want I wanted them at and it works!
Go figure..

Hi user needs

Thanks for your response.

What do you mean when you say " The system said my card was running at XXX it wasn't"?

What's "XXX" mean?

Also when you say "What I did was reset everything to different settings, then set them to want I wanted them at"?

What settings?

With my WinTV Premio card, you just need to tune in the channels and that's it, the picture was great on my previous board using the same display cards but now with my new board, it's not.

Can't figure out why though.

Regards

Hi user needs

Many thanks for your response to my problem.

As I said in my first post, I removed the card (yes, it is a pci card)after seeing that the picture quality was rubbish but, I will reinstall it again and if the picture quality is still bad, I will check if it's sharing any resources and try moving it around (I have 5 slots to choose from and I'll try every one if I need to) and if that don't work, then I
guess it will be time for me to uninstall it again until I find a solution.

Thanks again.
