I just got my LiteOn 24x drive and when I plug in the drive and boot up, the tray ejects. This is using firmware 5s54. When I tried to flash the firmware with 5s57 which is the newest and appears to address this very problem, the flash fails. Either it comes up with a box that says "buffer>" with some hex values or it will appear that the flash works. When I reboot, the problem remains and the old firmware is still in place.

This is on an Iwill KK266+R mobo with both HD on the raid channel and the LiteOn is on the primary master IDE channel. I get no trouble finding the drive, but the firmware just fails to flash.

Hey! I thought you ordered a Plexie!?!?!?!?

Anyway, try...

1. disable DMA (to flash only)

2. Quit all other apps?

3. Try in safe mode?

You've had the worse luck with this thang!
Mine flashed first time

What model do you have? Mine's a 24102B.

Nope, I ordered a Litie. Talk about bad luck, check earlier posts of mine in hardware either here or in ADTW. I have been fighting hardware compatibility issues for like 6 months now. Eh, some of the older posts are no longer there now. That's right. First my mobo, which I think was recently resolved with a BIOS update that finally worked that didn't get recalled a few days later. Iwill has had trouble with their KT133A based board.

I got the LiteOn working for the time being though I am unsure how I accoplished that. After I could not flash it, I put my HP drive back on and just for the heck of it put the LiteOn as slave. Low and behold, when the system booted, no continual tray ejection. While I had luck going I tried flashing again, but I still don't think it worked. Boot up still shows the firmware as 5s54 unless it is lying to me. So, I took the HP 9300 back off and put the Litie back on as single master. Powered up and it is still working ok so far. We will see if it gives any more fits.
