Yea stick with winxp. I have not heard a single reason to why you need to run a server.
i saw in Microsoft.com that the minimum speed requirement for windows 2003 is 133mhz. i went and checked the minimum speed requirement for windows xp and that was 233mhz!

That could be possible on the assumption the box the os is installed on will only be used for a basic stand alone or member server. Microsoft makes the min requirement based on the fact that the system administrator wont be playing video games or surfing porn while some guy down the hall is waiting for his authentication to happen lol

Agreed. On 2k3 most services are disabled by default, as is the bells & whistles like fading menues, shadows, smooth fonts, themes, sound and gfx acceleration etc etc...

All this makes 2k3 out of the box significantly less resourcehungry then xp. If you start to "convert it to a workstation it will drain much more resources.

Running 2k3 enterprise with less than 448 mb ram is not recommended in my experience.

Ok, you're not the only one. But why do people even ask which OS to use? W2k3 Server is obviously for a SERVER, and Windows XP, notice it doesn't say SERVER is for personal computing. Everyone, lets use our heads here
