hi there

i have just purchased a new custom-built computer.

however, the dvdrom drive cannot read some CDR disks properly. for example, when doing on-the-fly copies of a cdr disk, the resulting copies have some corrupt files.

also when i was installing windows 2000 pro (cdr disk) it said that some files were corrupt. however, this cdr copy was perfect as i had a year ago and used it many times on other pc's/laptops.

however, the dvd rom drive reads pressed original disks ok. e.g. i installed windows 98 SE (original disk) without problems.

when i tried to install windows 2000 pro using the same disk, in my rewriter drive, the installation was all perfect. therefore, it cant be a faulty win2k cdr disk.

do u think the dvd drive is faulty??

regards

Ishy.

Hi Ishy, sounds to me the DVD Reader is sensitive to certain "Colors/Brands" of Burned disks. One thing to try would be to make a copy of the Win2K disk using some other machine and a different "Brand" of Blank. Then try the "New" copy in the DVD Reader and see if its ok.....
