what opinions do you guys have on this strategy?
my humble view is that it is stupid.
both the company have merged and i think that it is stupidilty to address it as 2 different companies. since compaq has already been bought over, it should be extinct on this planet. HP should be the brand name used on all products.
to go after 2 segments, you dun need to have 2 different companies. you can just work out 2 different products to cater for the different segments of customers.
and to cont'd to have 2 brand names, does not give customers the after sales support confidence. who should they call when they face a problem? HP or Compaq. what i do foresee is that the customer will be pushed here and there and everywhere...
