Simp: MSN Messenger conversations confidentiality
Overview
Simp (Secway's Instant Messenger Privacy) is a tool developed by Secway to secure your online MSN Messenger conversations. Simp works by encrypting messages before they are sent over the Internet and decrypting them when they arrive at your contacts. Once installed on your and your friends computer, Simp will prevent anyone from reading your conversations.
Simp is free for any use (home or internal business use).
Note: Simp 1.1 is NOT compatible with MSN Messenger 5.0, use Simp 2.0 beta instead.
Current Stable Release:
Simp v1.1 English
Simp Lite 2.0 Beta Release: New! SimpLite beta 6 has been released
Simp Lite 2.0.0 beta 6 for MSN Messenger
If your system doesn't recognize MSI files, please install the "Microsoft Windows Installer".

the software company is called secway. their program, simp (secure instant messager privacy) "is a tool developed by Secway to secure your online MSN Messenger conversations. Simp works by encrypting messages before they are sent over the Internet and decrypting them when they arrive at your contacts. Once installed on your and your friends computer, Simp will prevent anyone from reading your conversations."
...they are currently looking for users to run their software during their test phase, and we would like to help them out as much as possible. believe me when i say that security and privacy is an option that none should be without.
if you run any of the major 4 im clients (msn, icq, aim, yahoo) you need to take a look at this!
SO :
help them with their beta plugin... it is very stable... much more than microsoft themselves, as i have NEVER had a bsod or an illegal operation while running it... or has any other person that i know of...
sign up on their forum at
http://www.secway.fr/forums/index.php.
after that, download the plugin located at
http://www.secway.fr/lab/simp.php?PARAM=us,ie.
it's not very large and is in msi format...
for those of you running trillian instead of msn, the software also works with both the .74 and the 1.0 pro version. information on setting up your trillian to run with simp can be found at
http://www.secway.fr/forums/index.ph...11c0f452b77807.
--------------------------------
this is a worthwhile project on their part....support them if possible....
Internet privacy is quickly becoming a thing of the past, and it's great to see a company step up to the plate and provide a solution like this! with our support and feedback we could actually help develop a piece of software that has the potential of driving microsoft insane... did you know that when you use msn instant messager you leave logs on microsoft servers? did you know that microsoft occasionally reviews these logs? with simp installed and operating properly, microsoft is effectively taken out of the loop. your logs are unreadable by microsoft. most of you probably don't have anything to hide... but does that mean you want to share it all with m$?
isn't it worth the time that it takes to download a piece of free software and provide a little feedback to ensure the right to privacy for you and all of your other netizens?
one more note: after you install simp, you will have to run it manually the first time to configure it... and if anybody has any questions regarding this program, you can post it on their forum after you have registered.
please leave a comment if you register and download!
I've been using this app for the best of 2 weeks now with no problem whatsoever
thanks to the folks of nxsecure for providing the info.

The latest Pro Beta version (8) has an improved setup configuration for ICQ, Trillion, AIM and MS Messenger.
Looks quite nice and simple to set up.

Hey Richard,
Have they done anything about encrypting your email if the other party doesn't have the proggie yet?
Does this work with Messenger Plus running at the same time, or do you have to disable "plus"?
I had some issues when I tried this proggie last time you recommended it, so I un-installed it..
thanks!
