There's a bit of a learning curve to mIRC, but nothing insurmountable. McoreD is right in that we need to know what you want to do. If you want to download files, look at my post to McoreD regarding a download client, and use the following sites to find what you need:
PacketNews and
MyDownloader
These are excellent DCC search engines, but they're sometimes down so be patient. You also need to be patient with mIRC as many of the files you want are also wanted by other people, and queues get full quite quickly. But, with patience and perseverence, along with the help of DCCAssist, you'll eventually get what you need.
There's also Options settings you need to use to get mIRC to work to its optimum, but there are many sites around the Web along with those already suggested in this post to get mIRC working like it should. Take some time, learn all you can, experiement a bit, and you'll soon be a knowledgeable mIRC user.
