How to Copy Huge File from DVD to CD R

There is a DVD which contains a set of files in a folder. it contains an installer too. .i need to copy all the data multiple CD's ..how do i burn the CDR's to multiple CD's so that the installer asks for the next CD

One approach is to use winRAR or some other similiar compression program to put all the data you want into fixed sized archives (700 megs) and then burn those 700 meg files to seperate CDs. The drawback is that to run the install program, you will have to uncompress all the files onto your hard drive and then run the install program.

There are several progs that will rip DVDs to various other video formats. But I don't know what they are. (I'm an audio geek).
