I use the fixed StyleXP that runs through the actual windows display props that was posted here a few months ago. It all worked great until I installed a non corp version of XP pro and SP1. Now every few days it loses it's settings and goes to classic windows style. When I go to display props I can choose the Luna styles that come with XP, but nothing else. It is like the styles setting resets.

I think what is happening is that XP is replacing the fixed style DLL with a cached one as XP does, but it worked with my pre SP1 installation and never reset. Can anybody confirm this? I don't want to bother using the full StyleXP either because it sucks having to update every two weeks. :-P

Anybody help me?

I too experienced the same problem when I worked with a patched version of UXTHEME.DLL. Applying SP1 automatically over-writes the patched version and the cached copy and therefore both copies require patching: the same applies to .net under which even a Kosher copy of StyleXP won't work and the patch approach is the only solution.

The only guaranteed solution is to install StyleXP - though this will cease to work when new builds of UXTHEME.DLL are released, e.g. with service packs!

Darkwolven,

How did you end up fixing your problem? I had the same thing happen to me a day or two ago, and I haven't installed SP1, or even been to Windows Update for at least a month...
