I thought I would come on here and try to balance the shocking and unfounded accusations made against me by some members who I have personally had on MSN or email many times for different reasons.
Neowin is down now, you guys are the first to know officially because I havent posted this anywhere else (I might on the msn community don't know yet) I had some issues with our host because agreements we made were changing by the day. It got to the point where we had to put a banner on every page (including comments) and those banners invoked pop-ups (something I said will never be supported on neowin by me)
So I took her down because of the ads overload and because we constantly disagreed with our host on certain things. We didn't have a contract and that is probably the best thing that came out of it.
As for you lot I find your comments towards my site degrading, Most of you know the man-hours I have put into that site, it takes up a large portion of my life these past 2 years to simply label it a zoo. The fact is you all keep coming back for one reason or another so it can't be all that bad.
Some members I have spoken for hours (combined) to try and understand how they feel they are somehow not welcome or appreciated or loved by the rest of the community only to find them throwing it back in my face here. Well go ahead. It shows me what type of people I worked hard on the site for doesn't it?
I have had people call me things and publically post crap about me that I would win in court for slander, but I realise its them not me. So maybe it's best that Neowin is down because all I see here are people who used and abused it and come here to bitch about it. If we are a zoo its because there are now many more members that you find "acceptable" here its smaller tight knit community, will it be with 17,000 registered members (not all active I know) and up to 1000 on the site at any one time? I think not.
Neowin was started by me and Redmak to try and reach the users, it appears we may of done that very well because all of you seem to blame others for ruining the site, however I don't see anyone here trying to change that either -most shocking was that of DZ who I came to respect openly tell people here that he intended to push our moderators and members dont you see that THIS degrades the site?. I'm going to have to have a good think about how I proceed with Neowin and it's staff (if I even bother too now) because I am taking this all too personal at the moment.
Oh and btw I cant please everyone, it's a shame I'm being expected to do just that and personally attacked if I don't. Former staff behavior on other sites only proves to me why they might not be on the team anymore. The reasons for all staff leaving neowin have been kept private because I respect others. It seems I am constantly not being extended this courtesy.
I started this thread with the intention of backing myself up but I really don't see the point. We will see eh.. I'm sorry Neowin was such a success and couldn't offer you personal attention at a certain moment -but all sites (that are good) get to that point, why do you think we needed so many more mods.
Michael wasn't on MSN when I wanted to submit this so I hope he is ok with it.
