HELP! Windows update shows there are no updates even after a clean install of xp pro!!!! -->
Im having this weird problem...
I formatted my pc, installed xp on it, and right when i
finished installing, I entered windows update website,
which for SOME reason shows me there are no updates
avalable for download.. --> THIS CANNOT BE CORRECT! I
just finished installing a clean XP Pro!!! im suffering
from unupdated PC.!!
this is the second time impasting this, because i thought
maybe the installation was corrupted or something, and it
didnt work again!! Please can someone help me with this..
my version of windows does not contain the "Service Pack 1" in it.. , and on the windows update you can see that it says: "There are no
updates available for your computer. Please check back
later" --> which makes a little conflict because there is
a service pack 1 update!!! Please help!

You are not the only one with this problem,
I have XP with the Sp1 installed.
I go to windows update, I choose the update I want to install, after I see the dialog box for downloading the update and the progress bar don't change

Clear your temporary internet cache, go to your program files folder and look for the WindowsUpdare folder- its hidden by default.
Delete everything in there. Empty your cookies and try it again- it worked for me. DO+SP1 working fine and updating
EDIT: Also make sure you are using the MS Java engine. You can check you are in the tools menu on internet explorer tools--->Internet Options--->Advanced. Uncheck "Use Sun Java 2.1.xxx <applet>

This doesn't really help- but a security update - Q329048
has just come out. the last one I had was Sept 19.
This update resolves the "Unchecked Buffer in File Decompression Functions" security vulnerability in Windows XP. Download now to prevent a specially malformed file from causing unauthorized code to run on your computer.
