As with all handheld devices, power conservation is of prime importance
to Pocket PC users who spend prolonged periods away from recharge
cradles
or other power replenishment sources. Below are two quick tips that
will
extend the battery life of your Pocket PC by shutting down unnecessary
(as determined by the user) functionality.
SHUT DOWN AUTOMATIC IR BEAM RECEPTION
By default, the Pocket PC 2002 handheld constantly spends a minute
amount of power awaiting infrared (IR) beam transmissions. To conserve
power,
shut down this automatic reception. Here's how:
1. Tap the Start menu open and select Settings.
2. Tap Connections at the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap the Beam icon.
4. Uncheck Receiving.
5. Tap OK in the top-right corner of the screen.
6. Tap Personal at the bottom of the screen.
7. Tap the Menus icon.
8. Tap Start Menu at the bottom of the screen.
9. Check Infrared Receive in the scrolling menu.
10. Tap OK in the top-right corner of the screen.
11. Close the Settings menu.
You can now opt to receive IR transmissions by selecting the Infrared
Receive option under the Start menu.
