AllBetas' response to BetaONE's opinion

The following is a copy of a post by Dennis on AllBetas, followed by my thoughts on the matter:

As some of you may know, Zone-MR of BetaONE posted an article about the "real" reason why I (orig) and sMk left BetaONE (see: http://www.betaone.net/allbetas.htm). In the article it states that I was demoted due to personal illness and that it was agreed upon. Indeed it was agreed that I should take a break. However, the demotion of me from Administrator to regular member was out of line.

When a company executive takes a vacation, is his title removed and changed to clerical aid until he returns? I think not. Not to mention, there was a PM that i read (sender and reciever will remain anonymous) that stated it would be good to get rid of me, with a lovely "rotfl" in it.

Its also funny how it is promoted that the crew will work as a team, yet I, a team member, was never asked or informed of the pending changes before or during their occurance. It seems that the definition of team in this case is "whoever will say what we want them to say."

sMk left because he felt that what was happening at BetaONE was terrible for the site, and that it was unjust. The same applies to all of our current crew members. When they expressed their opinion (on MSN), they got laughed at, and eventually blocked.

Now don't get me wrong, I try and i have tried to be friendly with the crew folks at betaone after my leaving. But the actions of late are absolutely uncalled for and immature. If I must sit here and write out such announcements because of this, I will. I'm not going to try and be nice anymore just to save myself.

I'll end this now, and I don't want to start a flame war back and forth between sites, but the events of late are really demanding such action.

I cannot pretend to know all of the details pertaining to what happens behind closed doors at BetaONE, but I can say that when I hear something from Dennis, I take it as God's truth. He is a trusted friend and colleague, and I couldn't stand by and allow him to be bashed in such a seemingly innocent way.

I can tell you from personal experience that AllBetas is NOT an excuse for Dennis to have a site that he, and he alone, can control. This is simply not the case; I know this because I am a crew member there, and proud of it.

Furthermore, I think it is disgraceful on the part of BetaONE to post such a page regarding AllBetas, and especailly regarding Dennis, while also removing his posting rights on BetaONE, and therefore his ability to respond as is his right.

I urge BetaONE members to read this and take it to heart. http://www.betaone.net/allbetas.htm seems a bit one-sided now, eh?

None of us wanted to get into a battle of ownership or control. I respect dennis as a person and a lot of the thing he said, however when it came down to one him wanting to close down betaone without even looking at the opinions of his members or crew, we could just not accept it

It also is worth pointing out that whenever any of our crew had tried to state our opinion on allbetas we were banned without explanation. We have had to resort to this.

We have many friends, some of which lie in the allbetas crew. Without disclosing too many details we can assure you that allbetas is being a lot less open (even towards its crew) as to the situation than would appear.

We do not wish this to end up in a flame war as much as dennis doesnt. Both sides have witnessed the same events, the rest is down to interpretation. Unfortunatley for our members to fully understand our decisions we would have to go into details, expose logs, screenshots, etc which orig has clearly stated he does not want to happen...

hmph. and all of this resulted in me being banned (eventually unbanned) but then kicked out of the crew. the same goes with rocky --- however, when we tried to speak with some administrators over here, we ultimately got laughed at, and then blocked. ya know, it is possible to be a crew member at two different sites --- i, myself, was an adminstrator over at iexbeta while being a moderator over here. the same goes with NAAAARRRRF... and now just for joining dennis we get kicked out. so, i guess, this will be my last post here.

With regards to people getting banned and positions taken away. This is not the military. I loved being a moderator. It was so much fun. I was fair and just and never lost my cool when someone ,who will remain nameless cause I respect him/her still, gave me flack for not posting for a few months.

Soon after my access to the crew/mod section was closed. I don't care anymore, Orig and Adam, admins at the time handed down the verdict. They had there reasons, though I don't know of them, cause I was never told.

That was then. I'm proud to be a member here. It brings me honor to be a part of the family, both here and AllBetas. I don't dislike Orig or Adam for demoting me. What they did was just business related; as understand that as thus.

I hear about people leaving cause of various arguments I get very upset, though most people know I don't like "drama." People hating people for stupid things just annoys me.

BetaONE and AllBeta are on the same plane of support. Both are birth children of Orig. Would I like access controls to be able to support this board and AllBeta? The answer is NO. I know that I'm trusted, I'm not here enough though.

Orig.. your still VERY popular.. an entire thread about your departure. WoW.

Or should I jump in and keep a battle raging? Should I fan the flames and say these guys are liars and those guys wronged me? Should I give you half truths that are shrouded in doubt and my own personal bias?

No. I will not. This is about the community and I know that some have enjoyed the show thus far but you will not see me going over to their site and stinking up the place....let's just move on and let it all drop, THIS site IMHO is about people coming together for a common cause, their love of technology and knowledge, as well as staying in touch with the friends that we ALL have made in this tenuous journey that is called life.

I implore all of the BetaONE members to join me and let's talk about things that really matter, the latest betas and "how do you do that" and the latest service packs and all things technology related. Let's keep the ball rolling here at this place that I have come to know and love ( I am spending a lot of time on the net lately ) and let's keep forging the new friendships and celebrating the old ones in this special place that I call home.

As always, I do not claim to speak for the crew or as the crew, I am just a plain old member voicing opinions that are my own personal ones. Thank you to all the members that took the time to read this and I hope to see you around in the forums, let's all be friends, there is enough hatred in the world without bringing it into here.

This would be the last thing I would ever want to get involved in, seeing as how I know little to nothing on what has transpired lately. I only know what I've read on BetaONE and AllBetas, plus the BetaONE summary page and all I have to say is that it sucks that there have been some problems and disagreements, but I hope it doesn't affect either of these two great sites in the long run.

I love BetaONE, and AllBetas is growing on me. I would hate to see either site hampered by people picking sides or arguing with members. In my personal opinion, all the crew members/admins have done a great job and I've always felt welcome. From what I've gathered about Orig, he seems like a great guy and I respect him.

I'm glad this site dispute isn't turning into a flame war and the people involved can handle this through rational discussion. I'm sure I speak for the majority of BetaONE (and AllBetas) members when I say we'll stick through this and continue become one of the best sites on the Net.
