THE FIRST TRIAL of people under a controversial law in which gamers faced going to jail or being fined has been thrown out by a Greek judge.
And the judge has ruled that the law itself is unconstitutional, meaning that the whole thing might be ripped to shreds.
The law was drafted as an attempt to prevent illegal gambling dens operating under the guise of Internet cafes.
But it was drafted so loosely that it extended, in theory at least, to cover people using Gameboys, playing Quake or possibly even messing around with games on their mobile phones.
Several gaming events were cancelled after the act became law.
