Congressional investigators will examine whether a Yahoo Inc. executive misrepresented his company's role in the jailing of a Chinese dissident who is serving a 10-year sentence.
Rep. Tom Lantos, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, opened the inquiry Friday to look into what Yahoo knew when it was ordered by Chinese officials to turn over information about one of its users, Shi Tao, 39, a journalist who was convicted of sending word of a media crackdown to the New York Web site Democracy Forum.
