As laptops become popular with more people we have seen a diversification of the products available, as well as the growth of subcategories. For instance, you no longer just by a notebook computer- you by a tablet, or a desktop replacement, or a mobile workstation. This allows for the development of models that are a more specialized and appeal to niche users instead of a general audience. A great example of such a system is the Fujitsu P1610, an ultraportable tablet from the same people that brought us the P7230. And when they say ultraportable, they mean it- the P1610 is 2.2lbs and uses an 8.9" LCD so it's incredibly small, but definitely not for everyone.
