Keeps schtum
GOOGLE'S ONLINE services are proving so popular, the search engine outfit's server keeps crashing.
According to IDG, some of the paying punters of the Google Apps suite of hosted services are getting mightily miffed over the reliability of the service.
A month after introducing Google Apps' Premier version, which includes a 99.99 percent uptime commitment, Google can't meet its service level agreements.
On Tuesday Google Apps' Gmail service started crashing in the morning and was not fixed until Wednesday afternoon.
This meant that the likes of Prudential Preferred Properties' 500 users couldn't access their e-mail for several hours.
One of the complaints was that Google does not tell anyone that its services are down, so IT departments get it in the neck from users first. Other users complain that despite paying for higher support level phone assistance has been underwhelming.
Apparently, the people who answer the phone are cheerful but about as useful as a chocolate teapot.
