Endorses Vole as digital plod
THE BBC AND Microsoft are getting cozier and cozier, it would seem.
As we at the
INQ reported a while back, the Beeb has been snuggling up to Microsoft for web aid, interested in a Web 2.0 makeover.
According to a press release from
Sonos, the blokes over at the Beeb have decided to jump ship for relying on Realplayer for web content, and have switched over entirely to the Windows-friendly WMA format. Now that the BBC has made The Big Switch, BBC radio stations will be received automatically for users of wireless music and radio provider Sonos. Microsoft, we assume, will be quite happy with the switch to WMA, as the BBC scores an awful lot of traffic and plenty use its streaming radio service. The switch gives Microsoft a big helping hand concerning streaming media.
