Then told a hack
A SAN DIEGO man was so miffed when USC rejected his application to join the school that he hacked the place and nicked some other students' data.
Eric McCarty, 24, pleaded guilty to a felony count of accessing a protected computer without authorisation.
After a plea bargain with prosecutors, he is likely to get six months of home detention and pay nearly $37,000 in restitution. McCarty broke into the site in June last year. He nicked Social Security numbers and other details of applicants. He seemed particularly interested in getting the details of women on the site that he fancied. He then created an email account called ihackedusc, and penned an email to an IT magazine called securityfocus.com to boast about it.
He also cleverly boasted about the attack on his bog. More
