Government hacked off at job losses
CHIPZILLA'S plan to invest in a new fab in Israel have been put on hold, despite the fact that Intel is still building the plant.
Intel is due to complete construction of the Kiryat Gat fab by mid-2008, but analysts are convinced that Chipzilla is not going to hire staff to run it.
Apparently this is because the Israeli government is talking about pulling the plug on hundreds of millions of dollars in set-up grants to the company. This is because in the latest round of cut-backs, Intel handed more than 6,500 P45s to loyal Israeli employees. More
