Internet Explorer damages Intel Itanic webcast
Corporate types don't use Fireferret, right?

THE ITANIC CONFERENCE call was another hour or so of my life I won't get back, but not for the usual painfully dull event reasons.

This one actually wasn't that bad. This time it was a technical problem with the webcast. Once again, companies just don't get it, they won't allow you to watch the webcast with anything other than the unacceptable security risk known as Internet Explorer.

Now, I am a Firefox user, and have not had a spyware or virus problem since I made the switch, and am not about to downgrade now. Luckily, Intel also offers the ability to use Real Player, something that I don't have installed, mainly because the #)($*#ing thing won't stop flinging ads in my face or shut down when I ask it to. IE is unacceptable, Real is unacceptable with a side of angry rabid weasels applied to your genitalia for added ambiance.

So, when I tried to log in, I got the following error page:

Thompson, the myopic knee-biters who provide this 'service' to companies, say that I need either IE 5.5 and 'heigher' or Netscape 7.1 and 'higher', but no Firefox. Luckily, they misidentified the browser, so I guess it wouldn't matter if it was supported anyway.

So, I sat there watching the following picture:

The irony of the slide promoting Itanic momentum that, well, just sat there was not lost on me. The rest of the information however was. In this day and age, to not support Firefox, or any browser other than IE, all I ask is for one, is simply unacceptable. The sad part is people actually pay for this 'service'. If Thompson forces you to use IE, it is no wonder that most of the financial news you hear lately is about security breaches. It starts in places like this, thanks guys.
