D-link has declared that it will ship it's Wi-Fi phone after announcing its DPH-540 WiFi flip-phone back in March this year. The phone uses Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and is compatible with VoIP phone services like Vonage. Description:The D-Link Wi-Fi Phone will be available in two models: the DPH-540 (black) and DPH-541 (silver). The phones use 802.11g wireless technology, weighs just 3.74 ounces, features a color screen and contain a 900mAh battery. Your standard array of mobile phone features are including such as an address book that can hold 100 entries, caller ID, polyphonic ring tones and support for text messaging. Users can expect up to three hours of talk time with the phone and 70 hours of standby time. The D-Link Wi-Fi Phone also relies on a Broadcom chipset for low-power consumption, echo cancellation, packet delay compensation and lost packet recovery.For interoperability with secure networks, the DPH-540 and DPH-541 support WEP, WPA and WPA2 encryption. The phones will also be compatible with the Public SIP Telephone Network (PsipTN) which is expected to be made available later this year. With a firmware upgrade, users will be able to make and receive phone calls within the PsipTN with a one-year subscription agreement.Both the DPH-540 and DPH-541 are available now at the D-Link online store for $249.99.
