Intel ready to hire additional Itanium engineers
Significant number over next few years

CHIP FIRM Intel is to hire a large number of design engineers to continue work on the Itanium processor, it has emerged.


The North Forty News and Fossil Creek Current said that Intel's Fort Collins design facility now hires 350 full time employees and will add the additional jobs over the next five years.

The engineers are set to earn $90,000 a year, said the newspaper, a figure double the average salary in Larimer County.

The paper said Intel has bought a 200,000 square foot building from Celestica - which closed a site in December with the loss of 800 jobs. Intel will hire laid off high tech workers. In addition, said the newspaper, here, Larimer County has offered Intel an attractive tax incentive. ..
