Patent office tells Microsoft it can't have big FAT one

Wa! Microsoft claims victory
THE US PATENT OFFICE delivered a rebuff to Microsoft this week, telling it that it can't grant two patents on the FAT file format.



It isn't the first time this happened. The patent office ruled against Microsoft a year ago. But Microsoft must have appealed.

Microsoft, remarkably, has claimed that the rejection is a victory because this time the patent office has also rejected a prior use objection made by the Public Patent Foundation, reports news.com. So Microsoft will probably be appealing, or rather asking the patent office to have another look at the patent apps it filed a few years back.
