Hi Grzyb, If your ADSL Provider has done their Homework, the speed cap is controlled by them. Most all ADSL modems will actually go 8 MBits down and 640 KBits up. Cable modems have similar or faster speeds, some can go 10 MBits up and down. However, again it depends on what the Provider has done in setting speed caps. Some Cable providers are a bit sloppy/stupid etc. in how they set things up.

Other issues that are more to the point than Speed are what they will allow you to do and how much data you can tranfer per month. Providers also put Caps on Bandwidth usage which can be a real anoyance.
