It took a long time, from Windows 3 to XP.SP2, and the OS project is not finished. True love? Possibly.
I knew someone who used Windows3.1, no, I knew 2 people, and I wasn't one of them. I was into C programming on the Gem interface on an Atari Mega ST, and before that on a Sinclair Spectrum & before that on a ZX81. Programming on an Atari was cool & beautiful in the 80's and a PC in the 80's was definitely not cool & not beautiful.
But think of the programming person-hours from Windows3 to the present moment and think about the clever buggars who are still at it. Programming is like chess, but worse. You can't leave it alone until the problem is solved.
So, I installed SP2 today and the system is tight and happy, I can feel it. Now that's clever, no doubt about it. I can almost see the green lines of code rolling down the screen in Matrix format. No Msoft agents around here, I hope. Better run.
