THE SOFTWARE GIANT which straddles the known world, Microsoft has released a beta of its new media player.
The creatively dubbed Windows Media Player 10 shows that Vole is increasingly interested in what Apple has been up to with its iTunes online jukebox. Like the Apple hit, the new player features an ability to offer music and video from different vendors directly through the player.
A spokeVole admitted that Redmond is testing a new concept currently called the 'Digital Media Mall' that offers a selection of online music stores and video services that work in the player.
The new player will also work with subscription style music services, where users can stream and listen to songs for a subscription fee rather than paying for each download. Media Player 10 will hit the shops later in the year.
