Any of our licensed customers can now log in and download a feature-slim BETA to test the interface and Windows File Protection management. The beta only adds and removes trivial OS fluff (e.g. wallpapers, sound themes, fonts etc) so as not to put anyone's machine at risk (it is beta after all). The remaining features are ready to drop in pending the response.
COOL!!! As you'll see from our poll (left of page) - many people are happy to give up on Windows File Protection (WFP) if it means they can customise the OS. Well.... YOU DONT HAVE TO!!. You do have to disable WFP in order to customise the feature list (adding and removing new lite options) - but afterwards you can re-activate WFP and even scan for missing or modified files! XPlite/2000lite is smart enough to integrate with Windows so that whatever you choose to leave behind remains fully protected.
Here is a preview list of most of the Windows XP operating system "features" that our development version of XPlite currently successfully renders into optional components that can be removed and added back at any time.
...as you can see we're finally making progress. An XPlite installation stripped bare of all options is still MONSTROUS compared to 98lite... Don't hold your breath waiting for a sub-100MB XP install as that is never going to happen.
Windows2000 users will be looked after also... 2000lite and XPlite will be the same engine with separate data files.
