~*McoreD*~ is an unknown quantity at this point
I am running Window XP SP1 in this Pentium II 400 System. It doesn't support Standby and also it doesn't support Hibernation with APM. I really need it to keep 24*7. But since the Standby mode is not working, I was afraid cos the CPU Fan is also 24*7 continuously running. With the 2.53GHz I got no worries as it has all the Power Saving options. But the problem is with this old PII. I am asking you guys, is it alright to run like this for 24*7?

Thanks in advance.

BTW, my dad is against keeping computers 24*7 as his logic is it is aging for quickly and the life time will reduce. But I can't agree with that yet. Is there any theoritical assumption that:

Life time of the CPU components with the habit of shutting down and restarting to use the computer only when needed = Life time of the CPU components with the PC 24*7

I think that assumption should be true. My CDRW has a 70,000hrs lifetime and I believe it come closes to die after that much hours despite we use it or not?
