This week Judge Marsha Pechman granted class-action status to a lawsuit against Microsoft over the term "Windows Vista Capable." It should be noted that some media outlets reported the ruling was that the suit could proceed, but that ruling (

The lawsuit was originally filed by lawyers for Dianne Kelley and Kenneth Hansen, with proposed class action status, early in 2007.
The suit alleges that Microsoft had had artificially inflated demand and prices for some PCs by marketing them as "Windows Vista Capable." The problem is that many of these PCs are only able to run Windows Vista Home Basic, which lacks many of the much-hyped features of Windows Vista, such as "Aero" and other features available only in more advanced Windows Vista versions.
