Teen rape victim was really old slapper
Little raindrop turns out to be big drip
ON THE INTERNET NOBODY KNOWS you're a dog, as the old adage has it. Police in central China have jailed a 50 year-old woman for posing as a teenage rape victim on the Web, according to our old chums on The China Daily. As we don't remember writing the story ourselves, we can only assume that it's entirely true, unless they stole it from someone else this time.
The woman, posing as Little Raindrop, pretended to be 15 and claimed she became pregnant after being raped by her evil stepfather.
The splendidly-named Wang Bing, spokesman for the splendidly-named Propaganda Department of the Tianqiao District Public Security Bureau in Jinan City, said: "She fabricated rumours and misled the public." Wang said that the woman would be held for ten days, although not charged with a crime, before adding, ominously: "We're discussing further punishment, maybe re-education through labour."
The divorced woman, who has a grown-up daughter, used chat rooms to claim that her wicked stepfather had locked her up at home and a number of her shocked Web chums reported the case to local police, who say that more than 300,000 people read her fictitious tale of woe.
"I did not know it was against the law to tell such lies, and I feel regretful," she blubbed.
