ALIENWARE announced 64GB solid state disk drives for its Area-51 ALX and Aurora ALX desktops,
Computerworld reports.
As far as we know, Alienware is the first mainstream brand to offer 64GB SSDs in desktop PC systems, although Alienware's parent company
Dell offers 32GB SSD options in its Latitude D420 and D629 notebooks.
Alienware product manager Marc Diana dismissed competing hybrid disk drives from Seagate and others with relatively small amounts of solid state storage, calling them a "Band-Aid" approach and "obsolete."
